BGC Motorcycle Engineering’s first workshop opened in Cheshire during 1979, providing a range of  engineering and re-conditioning services to the motorcycle trade and retail customers. A second workshop was opened during 1982 in North London, followed by a third workshop in Manchester during 1989. All three workshops offered the same comprehensive level of engineering services from cylinder re-boring to frame straightening.

BGC Performance Engineering

In late 1982 I was asked by Howard Lees to undertake engine building and development for his endurance racing team, which was a considerable undertaking as there were 8 rounds in the endurance world championship in those days. However, good staff and plenty of work allowed me to set up a separate workshop where I concentrated on race engine work. Over subsequent years race engine work was carried out for many teams and riders competing in endurance racing, F1 superbike, & UK supercup championships.

As the UK motorcycle scene diminished over the 1990's, and the race engine work was keeping me very busy, the London business was sold, and the Cheshire and Manchester workshops closed, leaving me more able to concentrate fully on race engine and chassis preparation.

In 1999 a move to the warmer climes of Devon was taken, and with the growing following of classic racing found myself kept very busy re-building the engines & bikes that I built when new in the 1980’s.
